Family Constellations
What is Constellation Work?
Constellation work provides a short, but effective, insight into a particular issue or problem in a person’s life. It can be called a ‘brief therapy’ as the issue is usually explored within an hour. It is solution focused. It is experiential and needs to be experienced in order to understand the value of the work. Family problems, work issues, relationship and health 'stuff' can all be explored.

A constellation is created when people take on or ‘represent‘ elements of your personal story. They might be representing people, things or feelings. The representative doesn't need to know anything about the issue and does not need any preparation. Both being an issue holder and a representative can bring rich insights in your own life. I have had many of the most important insights whilst being a representative.
By observing the interplay of these elements the facilitator will untangle complex challenges and work towards the issue holder gaining new insights. This can lead to a resolution of the issue. We aim to manage this in 40-50 mins. The issue holder usually feels better when there has been some movement or an insight into their issue. A constellation one-day workshop will involve exploring about five issues.
This approach perfectly dovetails with longer-term counselling or coaching, where a person needs a new perspective on the issue that they are exploring with their coach or counsellor. They may feel 'stuck'. People who are working alone on resolving issues often appreciate seeing their situation from another perspective too. This can move them into a new phase.
The facilitator needs to create a very safe, confidential, spiritually strong space for the work to happen. There is an element of the sacred in this work.
Often individuals are acting from an unconscious sense of loyalty to an earlier family member. The facilitator can untangle these loyalties and will help the issue holder to move towards a greater sense of freedom.

Weddings, Baby Blessings, Funerals,
Divorce celebrations.
We can work together to co-create a ceremony of great beauty and depth. We always remember these special days, which mark the really big changes in our lives.
I take great care with getting it absolutely right - and that the ceremony goes perfectly. I hold that sacred space for the group.
Please contact me for more details of bespoke ceremonies. I can come and meet you to discuss your wishes.
Rev Dr Kim Goode:
Family Constellation Facilitator,
Interfaith Minister and Teacher
I have been involved in constellation work for over 20 years. I had some issues with my dad and wanted to feel that our relationship was closer. It worked! This is a brief, spiritual, therapeutic approach. I facilitate workshops, support couples and see clients on a one-to-one basis. I used this therapeutic method as part of my doctoral research with a group of university students – to great effect. This focussed on developing emotional and spiritual intelligence and was completed mid-2016. I now run one-day workshops at the Friends Meeting House, Watford, and see clients one-to-one in Kings Langley.
I was blessed to be ordained as an Interfaith Minister in 2006 and have been the Minister at many weddings, some baby blessings and many funerals. If you are considering holding a ceremony, then together we could design the ceremony that you really love. My interfaith training also allows me to consider using spiritual counselling strategies in order to support people and to help in mediation situations. I have used these skills in my role as an Associate University Chaplain.
Working life: I trained as a nurse and then practiced for ten years, caring for people having heart surgery, then nursing adults and children with major burns trauma. I became a nurse teacher for the next twenty years. This has involved completing a Masters in Medical Anthropology, as well as gaining a Diploma in Teaching and now a Doctorate in Education. I have recently retired, but still work as a Visiting Lecturer at the University
I'm married, have two grown-up children (and a new grandchild !) and live happily in Kings Langley.
